Your Voice - Use It

I love going to public places and watching people. I think it is a past time that my husband and I are slowing developing into a course of study. We love it so much we look for places to go walk around and just look and observe. It's not that I don't like to talk to people but I love to watch human behavior, the marrying of cultures, social politeness or impoliteness and etc... I don't pounce on my chest announcing that I'm some great intellectual of behavioral science, just enjoy observation and spinning my own end to each story I observe. But to some this may look as though I enjoy poking fun at people or the like. Not true or even close to it. People interest me and I enjoy my juvenile thoughts and outcomes I dream up in my head.

Sitting with my husband one evening watching a great woman on T. V. she made a statement that there are no intellectual women on T.V.  Being a great observer of people herself, I thought to myself, wow, does that include her? She also made a comment that women do have voices and we can be known for something outside the physical. Wrapping my mind around that lead me to this. My voice is my voice. No one has the right to silence it unless I give them permission. No matter how many condescending opinions may come, my voice and opinion is my opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs whether they voice it or not.

I listen to the news which all is based on someone else opinion or view. I read the paper which is based on someones take on any particular story. I read the highlights on several Internet sites and they all swing one side of their view. Then why, oh why, can't someone else have an opinion that may or may not line up with the majority. Once there was a Christian man who was asked his belief on a particular topic. Once he voiced his heart the opposing side immediately tried to rip him from navel to nose about his own opinion. When we do that are we saying only a few are entitled to have a say so?

Many would say don't say anything now a days unless it is politically correct. What does that mean exactly? Ones' politics rides a wave and changes with the tide. What might be in today could be incorrect tomorrow. Even politicians themselves change their minds daily.  So why can't we as a democratic nation be allowed to have our own voice without someone else coming along telling us what we might have been thinking or trying to say. They title this a commentary. Ha! Why can't what we say be just that, what we said. Who gives others the right to take your voice away and change it into their voice. Remember we all have ONE voice and the right to speak it within the confines of the law.

Voice yours
